Title: Bibliotheken im Film - Eine Glosse
Authors: Schaffner, Johanna
Wie gut, dass das alles Fiktion ist!; Libraries are present in movies of various genres - whether as an enchanted, dark place full of mysterious, anchient books in fantasy films, as highly technological advanced libraries with (supposedly) all-knowing computers and holographic librarians in science fiction, or as meeting points repurposed for confrontations and dance performances. Good think it´s all fiction!

Book Bans in Floridas Schulen - Inhaltliche Analyse der aus Schulbibliotheken verbannten Bücher

Title: Book Bans in Floridas Schulen - Inhaltliche Analyse der aus Schulbibliotheken verbannten Bücher
Authors: Wagner, Louisa Fabienne; Sandwall, Josefine O.
Die Ergebnisse verdeutlichen, dass die Zensurmaßnahmen strukturell diskriminierende Muster erkennen lassen.; This article analyzes 78 books that were challenged or removed from schools in Florida and other U.S. states, examining the official reasons given for these censorship measures. The findings show that “sexual content” is the most frequently cited justification, often without corresponding evidence in the texts themselves. Many of the affected works include LGBTQIA+ themes, suggesting that queer representation is a central factor behind the bans. Additionally, books featuring non-white protagonists, mental health issues, or social inequality are disproportionately targeted. The results indicate that moral arguments are commonly used as justification, while the underlying censorship patterns reflect broader discriminatory dynamics.
