Stimmen und Eindrücke der 112. BiblioCon in Hamburg

Abstract

Die 112. BiblioCon fand vom 4. bis zum 7. Juni 2024 im Congress Center Hamburg statt und stellte mit 4.205 Teilnehmenden einen Rekord auf. Unter dem Motto „offen.lokal.global.“ betonten die Grußwortgeber Dr. Carsten Brosda (Hamburger Kultursenator) und Arne Semsrott (Journalist und Aktivist) die Bedeutung von Bibliotheken für die Demokratie und die Gesellschaft. Zwei Studierende des Studiengangs Bibliotheks- und Informationsmanagement wollten herausfinden, wie die Besucher*innen die Messe erlebten und führten vor Ort eine Meinungsumfrage durch. Dabei standen Themen wie die Informationskompetenz und aktuelle Bibliotheksmanagementsysteme, im Fokus. Trotz vieler positiver Rückmeldungen zur Veranstaltung gab es auch Kritik an der Umsetzung des Mottos und der Zugänglichkeit der Veranstaltung für ein breiteres Publikum, insbesondere für Studierende. Insgesamt wurde die BiblioCon 2024 aber als erfolgreich bewertet.

The 112th BiblioCon took place from June 4th to 7th, 2024, at the Congress Center Hamburg, setting a record with 4,205 participants. Under the motto "open.local.global.", the speaker Dr. Carsten Brosda (Senator for Culture) and Arne Semsrott (journalist and activist) emphasized the importance of libraries for democracy and society. We, two students from the Library and Information Management program, conducted a survey on-site to capture the opinions of attendees. The focus was on topics such as information literacy and library management systems. Despite positi-ve feedback about the event, there was criticism regarding the implementation of the motto and the accessibility for a broader audience, especially students. Overall, the BiblioCon 2024 was successful.
