Gesellschaftskritische Betrachtung digitaler gesundheitsorientierter Selbstvermessung am Beispiel der Versicherungsbranche

Abstract

Das Smartphone als persönliche, mit Sensoren ausgestattete Quantifizierungsmaschine, ermöglicht jederzeit und überall das Sammeln persönlicher Daten. Es trägt den Trend der Selbstvermessung wesentlich mit und macht das individuelle Sammeln von Körperdaten massentauglich. Vor allem im Gesundheitswesen wird der digitalen Selbstvermessung ein enormes Potential zugeschrieben, welches im sozialwissenschaftlichen Diskurs jedoch deutlich kritischer diskutiert wird. Denn die Auswirkungen auf die Gesellschaft, das Selbstbild und die Auffassung von Gesundheit, Krankheit und eigenem Körper sind noch nicht absehbar. Vor Allem im Bereich der Versicherungsbranche, die ihre Angebote dahingehend anpasst, wird ein solidaritätsggefährdender Einfluss befürchtet. Folglich werden in dieser Arbeit gesundheitsorientierte Selbstvermessungspraktiken anhand einer systematischen Literaturanalyse evaluiert, diskutiert und die Frage beantwortet, welche Auswirkungen für den Menschen, die Gesellschaft und die Versicherungsbranche zu erwarten sind.

Smartphones are personal, sensor equipeed quantification machines, which allows the user to track personal data anywhere and anytime. They promote the trend of selftracking substantially and make the individual collecting of personal health data suitable for the mass. Especially inthe health care sector, it is said to have enormous potential, which is discussed more critical on a social level. The impact on the society, the self and the understanding of health is not yet defined. Since the insurance business is adapting their tenders to selftracking, it is to be feared that it could harm the principle of solidarity. Therefore in this paper health-oriented selftracking practices are evaluated and discussed based on a systematic literature analysis. It tries to answer the question how selftracking effects an individual, the society and the insurance business.
