Title: | Development of a GUI to evaluate strain specific reaction parameters using Matlab App Designer | Language: | English | Authors: | Ahr, Judith | Keywords: | Biotechnologie; Matlab; Reaktionstechnik; Kulturverfahren; Chemische Verfahrenstechnik | Issue Date: | 12-Jul-2022 | Abstract: | For the development and planning of fermentation strategies, knowledge of strain behavior is very important. For a fed batch strategy, the knowledge of strain specific global reaction parameters is needed for the development of the open-loop feed control and therefore the accurate control of the growth rate during the fed batch, which in turn is vital to achieve high production rates. Calculation of the global reaction parameters requires lenghty calculations and large data files. The automation through an application makes this process easier and faster. In this master thesis, an application was developed to calculate the global reaction parameters q_S/Xm, y_X/Sgr, q_O/Xm and y_O/Sgr for organisms grown on one substrate. The application was developed using Matlab App Designer®. For the development and verification of the application, fermentations were performed to create data that could be used in the application. The verification of the performance of the application showed, that high quality data is vital for good results. High deviations in the data, especially the offline data, leads to unreliable results that cannot be used for process development. A data fit was performed on the fermentation data, to acquire a data set which showed optimized behavior. This data was then used to calculate the global reaction parameters, confirming the function of the application. |
