Title: Evaluation of the feasibility of an electronic logbook in the BSc Clinical Sciences program in Zambia
Language: English
Authors: Schmidt, Maike Jelena
Issue Date: 2-Dec-2022
Abstract:
Innovative strategies, like e-Learning, are being implemented to address the shortage of healthcare workers’ and the inadequate quality of medical education. Particularly Sub-Saharan Africa is challenged by a lack of resources and a limited number of educational opportunities. In 2020 an electronic logbook was introduced to strengthen BSc Clinical Sciences students' skills-based training within a first cohort of students at the Levy Mwanawasa Medical University (LMMU) in Lusaka, Zambia. This mixed-method study aims to evaluate the feasibility of the e-logbook and to recognize the challenges and advantages of an e-logbook within this context. For this evaluation students' usage and their perception of the e-logbook during the pilot-phase have been assessed.
