Rechtsprechung in 24 Sprachen : der Gerichtshof der Europäischen Union im Porträt

Abstract

Ob auf dem Gebiet des Urheberrechts, des Datenschutzes oder der Künstlichen Intelligenz, eine stetig wachsende Zahl an Rechtsvorschriften, die für Bibliotheken und Informationseinrichtungen von besonderer Relevanz sind, werden nicht mehr im deutschen Bundestag verabschiedet, sondern von der Europäischen Union erlassen. Deswegen hat die Bedeutung der Rechtsprechung des obersten europäischen Gerichts mit wegweisenden Urteilen in den vergangenen Jahren kontinuierlich zugenommen. Der Beitrag stellt den Gerichtshof der Europäischen Union mit Sitz in Luxemburg in seiner Historie, Organisationsform und Funktionsweise näher vor und beleuchtet dabei auch für Bibliotheken und Informationseinrichtungen wichtige Urteile. Gezeigt wird auch, wie diese Urteile im Gerichtsportal InfoCuria recherchiert werden können.

Whether in the field of copyright, data protection or artificial intelligence, a con-stantly growing number of legal regulations that are of particular importance for libraries and information institutions are no longer passed in the German Bundestag, but are enacted by the European Union. For this reason, the importance of the case law of the highest European court with groundbreaking judgments has increased continuously in recent years. The article provides a closer look at the history, organizational form and functioning of the Court of Justice of the European Union, based in Luxembourg. It also sheds light on judgments that are important for libraries and information institutions and how they can be researched in the court portal InfoCuria.
