Community Health als neuronales Netz

Abstract

Die Notwendigkeit von Community Health, verstanden als spezifischer Teil von Public Health, begründet sich aus dem seit den Anfängen der Gesundheitsberichterstattung bekannten und nach wie vor ungelösten Problem des Zusammenhangs von sozialer und gesundheitlicher Ungleichheit sowie aus der Erfahrung, dass Interventionen ohne geeignete zielgruppenspezifische Ausrichtung kaum zureichende Wirkung entfalten. Basierend auf dieser grundsätzlichen Legitimation nimmt der vorliegende Beitrag eine kritische Diskussion des Gesundheitsbegriffs aus der Perspektive von Community Health vor. Ferner skizziert er die Bedeutung der Community als Vermittlungsrahmen für die Entstehung von Gesundheit und arbeitet mögliche Interventionsebenen zu deren Erhaltung und Verbesserung heraus. Neben seinen unbestrittenen Stärken verbindet sich der Community-Health-Ansatz mit einer Reihe von Risiken, die – vor allem wenn sie unbemerkt bleiben – ein in hohem Maße destruktives Potenzial entfalten und daher von Community-Health-Akteur*innen sorgfältig reflektiert werden müssen. Der Beitrag schließt mit einem Blick auf den gleichermaßen inter- wie transdisziplinären Charakter von Community Health und greift die Metapher des ständig lernenden neuronalen Netzes auf, als das sich der Bochumer Community-Health-Ansatz versteht.

The necessity of community health, understood as a specific part of public health, is based on the problem of the connection between social and health inequality, which has been known since the beginnings of health reporting and is still unsolved, as well as on the experience that interventions without suitable target group-specific orientation hardly have sufficient effect. Based on this fundamental legitimation, this article critically discusses the concept of health from the perspective of community health. Furthermore, it outlines the importance of community as a mediating framework for the emergence of health and elaborates possible levels of intervention to maintain and improve it. In addition to its undoubted strengths, the community health approach is associated with a number of risks, which – especially if they go unnoticed – have a highly destructive 23 potential and therefore need to be carefully reflected upon by community health actors. The article concludes with a look at the inter- as well as transdisciplinary character of community health and takes up the metaphor of the constantly learning neuronal network, as which the Bochum community health approach sees itself.
