Umweltfreundliche Festivals : Ein Leitfaden und Bilanzierungs-Tool zur Verbesserung der Nachhaltigkeit von Open-Air-Musikveranstaltungen

Abstract

Umwelt- und Klimaschutz hat inzwischen in allen Lebensbereichen eine erhebliche Relevanz, sodass auch in der Veranstaltungsbranche niemand mehr das Thema vernachlässigen kann. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird in dieser Studie ein Leitfaden und ein CO₂-Bilanzierungs-Tool entwickelt, um Veranstaltern bei der ökologisch nachhaltigen Organisation von Festivals zu unterstützen. Der Leitfaden wird auf Basis einer Analyse von vier existierenden Leitfäden erstellt und zielt darauf ab, Einsteigern einen kompakten Überblick über Nachhaltigkeitsmaßnahmen zu geben und Experten einen Überblick für weiterführende und tiefergehende Literatur zu liefern. Für die Entwicklung des Tools stehen die Gebrauchstauglichkeit, die Standards der Unternehmensbilanzierung und eine breite Zielgruppe im Fokus. Dafür wird das „Greenhouse Gas Protocol“ und der Begriff der Usability erschlossen. Mit Hilfe der Analyse werden Umsetzungsansätze abgeleitet und ein eigenes Modell entwickelt. Beide Hilfsmittel werden in einer empirischen Untersuchung praxisnah evaluiert, Lösungsansätze abgeleitet und überarbeitet. Die aus der Studie gewonnenen Erkenntnisse und erarbeiteten Hilfsmittel sind unser Beitrag für den zukunftsorientierten Wandel hin zu einer nachhaltigen Medienbranche.

Environmental and climate protection has now gained significant relevance in all areas of life, to the extent that no one in the events industry can ignore the topic anymore. Against this backdrop, this study develops a guide and a CO₂ accounting tool to support organizers in the ecologically sustainable organization of festivals. The guide is created based on an analysis of four existing guides and aims to provide newcomers with a concise overview of sustainability measures and experts with a reference for further and more in-depth literature. For the development of the tool, usability, corporate accounting standards, and a broad target audience are the focus. The 'Greenhouse Gas Protocol' and the concept of usability are utilized. Implementation approaches are derived, and a unique model is developed through the analysis. Both tools are empirically evaluated in a practical study, leading to derived solutions and revisions. The insights gained and tools developed from the study constitute our contribution to the future-oriented transformation toward a sustainable media industry.
