dc.description.abstract | The patriarchal system is still a prevailing problem in our society, hovering over recent topics like the Gender Pay Gap or the #metoo debate. In this thesis I inspect the television series ‘How I Met Your Mother’ as an example to see how damaging gender roles get established and habituated. I think the popularity and the audience’s size that a product of the culture industry has, correlates with the urgency of a critical discourse about that product. Through the lense of socio critical theories I examine and analyse certain tropes and pieces of the series to extract the hierarchical ideologies it inhabits. | en |
