Human perception, psycho-acoustics, and the hearing apparatus are of particular concern to spatial hearing and perception, therefore basic theories of perception and brief history are considered. The use of space as an artistic parameter generates certain effects. An approach to sound and spatialization is introduced and discussed for modular synthesizers. What are the effects of space on sound and of sound on space, and how do they influence each other? What parameters can be controlled and how can this knowledge be applied in order to create purposeful applications? Using artistic research methodology, possible answers and outcomes for these questions have been hypothesized, and examined, with the reflection on experimentation and its generated material. |
