Abstract:
The idea of multi-rotor systems (MRS) has been around for more than ten years. In research a high potential has been attributed to the systems, since obvious advantages can be found. Especially for offshore wind, where the larger turbines and blade sizes pose an enormous challenge to the wind turbine manufacturers, yet larger capacities per unit would offer tremendous financial advantages. However, so far, there is no real break-through on the commercial side. The reason behind this is, that several open questions for the practical use are not answered, which are discussed in the presentation.
