In addition, the changes and expansions of science communication are reviewed. In particular, the presentation and visualization of results and the access to science in various digital forms changed significantly. --- Methodology – The publication strategies and their aspects in the digital publishing concepts are explained. --- Findings – Results provide a large and informative overview of publishing concepts in today's research and development landscape. Students and engineers can learn about different publishing strategies and understand their sustainability. --- Practical implications – By applying digital publishing concepts, the way in which knowledge and research results are shared can be significantly influenced and a greater reach can be achieved. In addition to the importance of effective communication and dissemination of results for researchers and scientists, such publication strategies are also conducive for young students and engineers in developing their own careers. Knowledge of publishing concepts and their application can have a positive effect on the individual's integration into a company or research institute. --- Social implications – Science communication in digital form is easy to handle. Especially for research and development, it is important that the results are disseminated without obstacles. Advanced knowledge and new developments can be made accessible to almost everyone with the help of digital science communication and Open Access. --- Originality – A clear presentation of digital publishing concepts in engineering research and development is made available to students and researchers. |
