Abstract:

This article presents the teaching concept of the course „Ethics of Data, Algorithms, and Artificial Intelligence“ at HAW Hamburg. Based on learning objectives, it addresses ethical challenges of digital transformation as well as desiderata of applied ethics. Normative ethics – particularly the ethics of responsibility – provides the framework for analyzing practical cases using methods of ethical casuistry. Students engage not only theoretically with questions of responsibility, but also continuously reflect on and test their own handling of data, algorithms, and AI throughout the course.
