NFDI4Memory : Bericht zur Fallstudie

Abstract

The effective WEBWORK GmbH (eWW) was commissioned by the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin (SBB) as part of the NFDI4Memory project (Task Area 3) to conduct a scientific case study on the digitization processes of cultural assets. The study aims to provide a comparative analysis of digitization workflows for photographs, handwritten correspondence, and historical newspapers within the SBB. Based on the findings, eWW derived organizational and technical measures to optimize workflows, focusing on OCR (text recognition) and automated image description. The report outlines the methodology, results, and key recommendations derived from the study.
