| Title: | Entwicklung eines Datenanalyse-Tools zur Synthese von durch Google Maps gesammelten Nutzerdaten | Language: | German | Authors: | Pryzwanski, Isabelle | Issue Date: | 13-Feb-2026 | Abstract: | Diese Bachelorarbeit untersucht, inwiefern sich aus Google Maps-Aktivitätsdaten automatisiert auf Nutzerverhalten und geografische Lebensmittelpunkte rückgeschlossen werden kann. This bachelor thesis examines the extent to which Google Maps activity data can be used to automatically infer user behavior and geographical centers of life. Synthesis is understood as the combination of individual search queries into a coherent picture of digital usage patterns. The central challenge lies in processing heterogeneous, unstructured search queries from HTML-formatted data. A Python-based analysis tool was developed that processes and analyzes Google Maps activity data and synthesizes it into an interpretable overall picture. Before analysis, the data is prepared using parsing algorithms, rule-based address normalization, and semantic enrichment via the Google Maps Geocoding API. The implementation follows privacy-by-design principles with exclusively local data processing. The evaluation uses four real data sets to prove that even without explicit location sharing, it is possible to draw precise conclusions about people's centers of life and routines. |
