| Abstract: | Jeder Mensch spielt. Deshalb gibt es eine große Menge an Spielen. Eine Art von Spielen sind Rollenspiele. Eine Variante dieser Rollenspiele sind Pen & Paper Rollenspiele. Was genau ist ein Pen & Paper Rollenspiel und was sind die Besonderheiten dieser Spieleart? Wie läuft ein Spiel ab und wer spielt überhaupt diese Spiele? Mit diesen Fragen setzt sich diese Masterthese einleitend auseinander, um herauszufinden, welchen gestalterischen Einfluss diese Faktoren auf ein selbstverfasstes Pen & Paper Rollenspiel haben.
Diese Arbeit reflektiert die Entstehung des Rollenspiels Future of Time und des Abenteu-ers Ohnmacht, als Konsequenz, ein Abenteuer zu verfassen, das in kein bereits existieren-des Regelsystem passt. Dabei werden die Vorbereitungen des Spiels, sowie die Spielphase und die Verbesserungen, also die Wandlungen des Rollenspiels, und Anmerkungen für zukünftige Abenteuer dokumentiert und analysiert.
Pen & Paper Rollenspiele zeichnen sich, trotz einfachen Spielmitteln, oft durch schwer zugängliche Regelsysteme aus. Doch die Regeln können vereinfacht werden, ohne den Spielspaß und die Vielschichtigkeit des Spieles zu verlieren.
Future of Time ist die leichte Zugänglichkeit geglückt. Es ist ein funktionierender Prototyp, in dem viel Potential zur Weiterentwicklung steckt. Dabei gilt es, die Geschichte von Ohn-macht und die Hintergrundgeschichte zu schärfen, und die Handlungs- und Entdeckungs-möglichkeiten im Hinblick auf die Geschichte und die Aktionen der Helden auszuweiten.

These are questions, which this thesis will look into, to find out how the factors influence the ... Everyone is a gamer. That is why a great amount of games exist. One type of games are role-playing games, of which one variation is pen & paper role-playing games. But what exactly is a pen & paper role-playing game and what makes it special? How is a game run and who exactly plays such games? These are questions, which this thesis will look into, to find out how the factors influence the creative process of composing a pen & paper role-playing game oneself.
This thesis reflects the development of the role-playing game Future of Time and the ad-venture Blackout, as a consequence of creating an adventure which cannot be sorted into an already existing role-paying game-system. This includes a documentation and an anal-ysis of the preparations for the game, as wells as the playtesting and the improvements, the changes within the role-playing game and its system, and thoughts on future adven-tures.
Even though the means that enable gameplay are quite simple, pen & paper role-playing games often come with set of rules that are not easily accessible. It is possible though, to simplify those rules, without the game suffering and the players having less fun playing.
Future of Time is a prototype which has a lot of potential for further improvements. These improvements include giving the background story a sharper outline and including more possibilities for hero’s actions and investigative potential within the storyline. |
