Hintergrund für die Annahme, dass die essentiellen Fettsäuren ein wichtiger Faktor bei der Allergieprävention sein könnten, sind die metabolischen Vorgänge, an denen sie beteiligt sind. Die Frage, welche Rolle n-6 und n-3 FS bei der Prävention von atopischen Erkrankungen spielen, wurde weltweit schon in vielen Studien überprüft. Hintergrund für die Annahme, dass die essentiellen Fettsäuren ein wichtiger Faktor bei der Allergieprävention sein könnten, sind die metabolischen Vorgänge, an denen sie beteiligt sind. So handelt es sich bei den Metaboliten der n-6 FS Arachidonsäure (AA) um entzündungsfördernde und entzündungsauslösende Eicosanoide, bei den Metaboliten der n-3 FS um entzündungshemmende Eicosanoide. Die Derivate der n-6 FS Linolsäure werden nur zu einem geringen Teil zu den entzündungsfördernden Eicosanoiden metabolisiert. Speziell die antiinflammatorische Wirkung der n-3 FS ist also interessant, will man in immunologische Vorgänge eingreifen.
Ein für diese Diplomarbeit untersuchtes Review hat den Zusammenhang zwischen der Fettsäurezusammensetzung der modernen Ernährung und dem vermehrten Auftreten von Asthma bronchiale überprüft und mit Hilfe der dort verwendeten Studien eine Verbindung hergestellt. Andere Studien konnten diesen Zusammenhang nicht vollständig bestätigen.
In drei Studien, die für diese Diplomarbeit untersucht wurden, wurde die Wirkung von n-3 FS als Nahrungsergänzung oder in einer n-3 FS-betonten Ernährung bei Kindern mit hohem atopischem Risiko untersucht. Es konnte keine präventive Wirkung der n-3 FS auf die Ausbildung von atopischen Erkrankungen festgestellt werden. In den für diese Arbeit untersuchten Studien konnte sich aber ein Hinweis auf die Verbesserung der Symptome bei Asthma bronchiale und atopischer Dermatitis finden. Nahmen die Kinder mehr n-3 FS mit der Nahrung oder als Nahrungsergänzung zu sich, waren z. B. Asthmaanfälle weniger stark ausgeprägt, als in bei den Kinder der jeweiligen Kontrollgruppen der Studien. Auch die Supplementierung von n-6 FS scheint sich im Hinblick auf die Symptomatik der atopischen Dermatitis positiv auszuwirken, wie in einer weiteren Studie festgestellt wurde.
Insgesamt kann festgestellt werden, dass die Wirkung der essentiellen FS bei atopischen Erkrankungen weiter untersucht werden sollte. Die Ergebnisse der Studien lassen deutliche Hinweise auf mögliche positive Effekte speziell der n-3 FS bei der Symptombehandlung erkennen. Bis weitere Studien (auch Langzeitstudien) vorliegen, sollte zunächst darauf geachtet werden, die Zufuhr-Empfehlungen von DGE et al. gerade im Hinblick auf das FS-Verhältnis zwischen n-6 und n-3 FS zu befolgen.

To summarise, the metabolites of the n-6 fatty acids arachidonic acid are inflammatory and inflammation causing eicosanoids, while the metabolites of the n-3 fatty acids are anti-inflammatory eicosanoids. The derivatives of the n-6 fatty acids are metabolised to inflammatory eicosanoids only to a minor extent . The anti-inflammatory effect of the n-3 fatty acids will be of especial interest, if one wants to intervene in immunological processes.
A review analysed for this diploma thesis checked the connection between the combination of fatty acids in modern nutrition and the increased occurrence of bronchial asthma, and has produced a connection by means of the used studies. But various other studies could not completely prove that connection.
In three studies, that were analysed for this diploma thesis, the effect of n-3 fatty acids as a dietary supplement or as a nutrition rich in n-3 fatty acids was tested on children with a high a-topic risk. No preventive effect of the n-3 fatty acids on the development of a-topic diseases was noted, but there were indications of an improvement in the symptoms of bronchial asthma and a-topic dermatitis. When the children were given more n-3 fatty acids with their nutrition or nutritional supplement, the asthmatic attacks were less distinct than with the children from the relevant control groups. The supplementation of n-6 fatty acids, too, seemed to have a positive effect on the symptoms of a-topic dermatitis, as was stated in another study.
On the whole it can be stated that the effect of essential fatty acids on atopic diseases should be investigated further . The results of the different studies show clear evidence of possible positive effects especially in the treatment of the symptoms with n-3 fatty acids. Until further research (studies over longer periods) is carried out, one should first consider following the recommended doses of the German Society for Nutrition and others, with particular consideration to the relationship between n-6 and n-3 fatty acids. |
