Ein Blick in den Spiegel: Selbstbild und Image von Bibliothekaren

Abstract

Diese Arbeit untersucht das Selbstbild von BibliothekarInnen in Deutschland in einer empi-rischen Erhebung und setzt es mit dem zuvor theoretisch analysierten Image in der Öffent-lichkeit in Relation. Der Untersuchung steht die Forschungsfrage voran, wie sich das Selbstbild von Bibliotheka-rInnen darstellt. Die Erkenntnisse sollen eine Grundlage für die Profilierung und Anpassung des Images bieten. Die Ergebnisse der empirischen Umfrage liefern Erkenntnisse über das Selbstbild. Dieses stellt sich als äußerst positiv dar. Zwischen Image und Selbstbild bestehen Differenzen. Das Image ist nach wie vor veraltet, fällt jedoch bei NutzerInnen deutlich besser aus als bei Per-sonen, die Bibliotheken nicht nutzen.

This work examines the self-image of librarians in Germany in an empirical survey and re-lates it to the previously theoretically analysed external image. The investigation is preceded by the research question of how the self-image of librarians is presented. The results can be used to adapt and distinguish the image yet further. The results of the empirical survey provide insights into the self-image. This turned out to be extremely positive. There are differences between image and self-image. The image is still outdated but is much better with users than with people who do not use libraries.
